Our London Eye experience

London Eye
London Eye

Bank holiday weekend we all went to London to celebrate Kieran’s 18th birthday. Whilst we were there we decided that we would take all the kids on the London Eye. This is something we have never done before so we were all quite excited. We were unsure weather to go straight on or book and go on the following morning . When I enquired about the waiting time the girl serving me said I had come at a good time (it was 5pm) as the waiting time to get on was less than 30 minutes. We decided that as we were all there we would just wait and go on straight away. The weather was in our favour as the sun had come out. The sky was lovely and blue so we had a really great view. Hope you enjoy reading about Our London Eye experience.

Buying the Tickets

I bought our tickets using Kellogg’s buy one get one free vouchers that I had been saving and paid the £96 for us all to go on. We did a quick toilet stop on the way. You know what kids are like, if we didn’t do a toilet stop they would be bursting for a wee when we got to the front ready to get on.

Security Checks

We made our way to the London Eye, passed through the security checks and carried on up to the point where you have your photo taken.  We all smiled for the camera, collected the photo ticket and joined the short que.

Almost on

We had a pushchair with us and as we got closer to the front the staff was making sure people had folded the pushchairs up. We had to take the pushchair on with us which wasn’t a problem as we just laid it on the floor near the door.

When it was our turn to get on we had only been waiting about 15 minutes. I thought was super quick and a bonus too as the kids had not had time to start moaning. Kids hate waiting too long as we all know that kids have no patients at times.

We were on

In our pod were another 8 people. It didn’t feel cramped at all and everyone just mingled about taking photos. There was a bench in the middle that you could sit on if you wished to. Alex took the opportunity to sit on the bench for some of the time as he is not keen on heights, but he did get up and take some photos too.

The Eye moves really slowly and you hardly feel like you are moving at all. It took about 15 minutes to reach the top and before we knew it we were back at the bottom and getting off. You do get a fantastic view of London from both sides of the pod when going up, whilst at the top and when coming down. As you are on the way down there is another photo opportunity to stand on the feet prints in the pod and smile for the camera.

And were off

We collected our things and exited the pod and made our way down to look at the photos that had been taken before we went on. We decided not to buy the photo of us all as both Ben and myself had our eyes closed. It wasn’t a great photo at all and not worth buying.

4D Cinema

As we ended up going straight on the Eye we still had the 4D cinema experience to see. So we decided that we would go and do that straight after whilst we were in the area. We collected our glasses, joined the que, and had 3 photos taken and then waited to go in the cinema. The kids love these 4D cinemas so it was a big hit with them. They loved how real the seagull looked, they also loved the water and snow effects too.  The cinema show only lasts about 5 minutes. We left the cinema and headed towards the tills where you can view the photos that were taken. There were quite a few people viewing their photos so we just had a short wait until it was our turn.

We loved all 3 of the photos so we decided that we would buy all 3 of them. We bought all 3 for £30. The photos came presented in a booklet and a folder, which made a lovely keepsake. We also got a key ring and a magnet included in the price, which always makes a lovely added extra.

All in all we all had a fantastic experience on the London Eye. We would definitely recommend everyone to go on and we will definitely go on again next time we are in London.
