Elf on the Shelf Ideas

Elves with advent calendars
Elves with advent calendars

For the last couple of years, we have been blessed ( if blessed is the correct word ) with 2 little elves visiting us during the month of December. Our cute little elves are called Candy and Buddy. During the night they seem to have great fun getting up to all sorts of mischief so I thought I would share with you our Elf on the Shelf Ideas and just what they have been doing and the craziness we have been waking up to each morning.

Bringing advent calendars

On the morning of December 1st the boys woke up to the elf’s arrival and an advent calendar each.

Hanging from decorations/ lights

The pesky little elves thought they would attach themselves to a Brussels Sprout wreath that I made and dangle themselves from it.

Midnight snack

They were lucky tonight as Ben had been making Tuna Pasta Salad at school so it was handy for them to be able to tuck into it and have a healthy midnight snack. I think they liked Ben’s tuna pasta as much as we did.

Reindeer visit

We hadn’t expected to have a visit from Santa’s reindeers but it looks like they did visit as they left us a bit of a mess. Lots of Reindeer poo!!!

Reading

After all the excitement of the reindeers visiting last night, the elves were obviously a bit tired so they spend the night reading the boy’s books.

Gaming

They had another wild night and spent it gaming. They were wearing the headset so I do wonder if they were talking to their friends who were at other families houses.

Crisps on the tree

Well when it came to packing packed lunches we did wonder where the crisps had gone and we were surprised to find them being used as decorations on our tree. They didn’t make very good decorations!

Elf pet pulling the sledge

Last year when the elves left they left us their pet, Barry. We have looked after him all year and it looks like the elves have roped him into taking them on a sleigh ride around the house.

Snowball fight

We all love a good snowball fight and it seems that the elves do too.

Chocolate finger Jenga

Jenga is a family favourite and the elves made their own version by using chocolate fingers.

Swapping shoe laces for sweet laces

Buddy and Candy were back up to mischief again and thought it would hilarious to swap some shoe lases for sweet laces. I definitely think we will stick with real laces!

Shoe Shoe train

They must have had a thing for our shoes as they decided to make a train out of some of the shoes that were on the shoe rack

I pead on the floor

Oh no they were back to making the boys laugh. We woke to the sight of them having ‘pead on the floor’. Whatever next?

Emptying the cupboard

So, they thought they were funny and decided that they would empty my cupboards of all the cereals and cereal bars.

Writing naughty rhymes on toilet rolls

Well, this one made the kids laugh so much and sing the silly rhymes for days! The pesky little elves thought that they would change the words of some of the Christmas songs and write them on our toilet rolls.

Putting googly eyes on our family photo

The elves were funny sticking googly eyes on a photo of us all

Sitting in a bowl of Cereal

I think the elves thought they were helping by making the kids breakfast cereal.

Keeping toasty and warm

It has been really cold at nights so the elves obviously decided that they wanted to keep warm.

Toasting Marshmallows

The cheeky elves took advantage of the fire that we had last night and used It to keep warm and toast their marshmallows.

Wrapping shoes in cling film

Ooh we are back to the elves liking our shoes. They decided it would be funny to wrap a couple of pairs of shoes up in cling film.

Orange caterpillar

I guess they fancied a bit of fun and a ride on a caterpillar so they made one out of our oranges

We luv U out of sweets

The elves were super sweet leaving a cute message for the boys

Hungry hippos

Games night for the elves. They used hippos and Maltesers to create their own

Chocolates left by the elves

The boys were sad that the elves were leaving again until (hopefully) next year. Before they left they did leave the boys some chocolates so they were happy and the chocolate didn’t last long at all.

I hope you enjoyed reading our elf on the shelf ideas. We would love you to share your elf on the shelf ideas with us.
