For the second year running we have stayed at Haven at Caister-On-Sea for Fathers Day and this year Shane’s birthday was even on Father’s Day.
The holiday park at Caister-on-sea we chose is quite a way for us to travel to get there. It is roughly 145 miles but we enjoyed it so much last year everyone wanted to go back again.
Booking
We booked to go from Friday to Monday but we could not set off on the Friday until the boys had all finished school. This gave Shane and I the perfect chance to get everything packed and in the car ready. As well as getting some food prepared for a super quick tea before we set off. We made the decision to only stay until the Sunday evening as all the boys needed to be back at school on the Monday morning. Our boys have really high attendance rates with a couple of them obtaining 100% for the school year. We are really lucky as they are not generally poorly children and they hate being off. We have never taken them out of school for holidays either. It is important that they are attending and learning and not falling behind.
Arrival
Upon arriving at Haven at Caister-On-Sea we collected the keys for the caravan from the park reception. I was informed at this point by the lady that our caravan had been upgraded free of charge to a prestige caravan which was fantastic. We were also given a map of the site along with tips for caravan safety and an activities guide. We were also guided where to park and the location of our caravan.
Unloading
We unloaded the car and got everything sorted in the caravan. The caravan was lovely, bright and modern. It had 3 bedrooms with the sofa bed in the living room so it slept 8 people. The kids were keen to be going out exploring and having fun. The fact that we had been previously was good because they knew what there was to do. Also the campsite was right on the beach, it literally took a few minutes to walk and you was there. It was just perfect for the kids to play on the beach or have a paddle in the sea. Jay and Max were happy to come to the beach with Shane and I. Kieran, Alex and Ben decided to go and play football so there really was something for everyone.
Plenty to do
This holiday park had a vast amount of activities that catered for whole family. These included Swimming, Multi-Sports court, Crazy Golf, Activity Range, Bike and Kart hire, Fun Tower with Climbing wall, Kiddy Karts, Pic ‘n’Paint Pottery, Nature Rockz, Childrens play area, Water Walkerz and Zip Wire. Most of the activities I have just listed came with an extra cost and on some they had age restrictions. You would need to check these to see if they meet your needs.
Entertainment
As well as those activities there were also loads of other events to keep the kids entertained that were all free. These included: Seaside Squad pop concert, Go Tots, Live Band, Karaoke, craft activities for all ages, Bug hunt, Treasure Hunt and much more. Again some of these activities had age restrictions.
Our boys loved the swimming, the crazy golf and made great use of the football pitch to and soon made plenty of friends. There were also a couple of play parks at various locations around the park. These were just perfect for letting the kids run wild.
Shopping
On site there was a well stocked mini market that was perfect for fresh bread and milk as well as a vast choice of other foods. They also sold the usual holiday gifts like rock, fudge, buckets and spades and personalized gifts. On site there was also Funworks arcade, indoor play area, Live Lounge for entertainment, Seagulls Club, Launderette, Papa Johns, Cooks fish and chip shop along with Mash and Barrel lounge, bar and café.
Sad to be leaving
All in all, we all had a fantastic weekend away. We had great weather and there was plenty of things to do to keep all the kids entertained. I’m pretty sure we will be returning again at some point in the future.
