I had decided that whilst we were in Blackpool we would go up Blackpool Tower and share with you our Blackpool Tower Experience. This was met with resistance from Alex as he says he doesn’t like heights and Ben saying he didn’t want to go up either. We did explain that once they were up the tower he would be fine and it was perfectly safe.
Going up anyway
So we carried on as planned and joined the que to pay, it was very busy and it was quite chaotic inside. There were no barriers telling you where to que so we just stood behind the couple in front who were paying at the time.
I had been saving the buy one get one free offers from kellogs cerial boxes so it only cost me for 4 tickets but it still cost us £55.00.
Up we go
We queued to go up in the lift, which was also chaotic and made it to the 3d screening. Before we went in we decided to do a toilet stop. I had the pleasure of taking Alex, Ben and Max into the toilet with me. Well you have never known anything like it. Whilst I was sat having a wee, Ben was crying real tears saying he does not want to go up making me feel like the worse mum in the world for making him. Alex was holding his stomach saying he felt sick, I just wanted to be beamed up at that point. Max on the other hand was mega excited so 1 out of 3 wasn’t bad.
So toilet stop over we joined yet another que, handed our tickets over to another member of staff to be scanned. Every single one had a red cross against them. Fantastic! I showed my card receipt and he said all was fine he would sort it so off we went.
Say Cheese
We parked our pushchair in the bay and posed for our first photo, and then we collected our 3d glasses and went into the cinema.
The cinema was great and the kids all enjoyed it. More photos and another long que and we were in the lift to the top. The girl in the lift was amazing at telling us all the facts about the tower and her timing was spot on. She has obviously said it a few times.
Tears for nothing
Once at the top the kids were amazed by the glass floor. Jay and Max were both quick to step on it along with Kieran. It didn’t even take Ben long to see that it was fine and he was not going to fall. Alex on the other hand took a bit more coaxing to step on. I did manage to catch him walking on the glass floor when he thought no one was watching, little monkey! As well as the glass floor level you could go up the stairs even higher. The boys loved the fact as they put it you could see the whole world. They also loved the fact that people on the ground looked like ants. All the tears we had were all for nothing.
Going Down
After we had spent a while up there and then headed back down for more photos, Collected our pushchair and to the shop. The photos we bought were sold as a bundle deal for £25.00. On the screen they looked good but once we looked closer when they were printed some were quite poor. We felt this was due to them having parts of coats missing so they were a little bit disappointing but not to worry. It must be because there is so many of us we didn’t all fit in the photo properly.
Didn’t escape the shop
Next we went through the gift shop then and bought some Blackpool Tower statues. At school Ben and Jay were doing about Giants so they decided that they would both write about Blackpool Tower as their ‘Giant’. I didn’t just end up with towers I ended up buying drinks and all sorts. As I spent so much (over £40) I qualified for a free Blackpool tower bag.
Everyone was happy and off we went. All in all it was a fantastic experience and one that in the end everyone enjoyed. We would definitely return again I just hope next time it gets off to a better start.
