If you are looking for a really fun day out then why not pay a visit to Thoresby Hall. Aswell as having stunning grounds to admire, and outdoor play area it is also home to The Queen’s Royal Lancers Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum. The Queen’s Royal Lancers Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum is well worth a visit. It is a lovely size museum that will only take an hour or two to look around but it is packed with information, lots of history, and displays showing uniforms, weapons and much more from the past. It is really great for learning about the history of the past wars. There are interactive parts to the museum making it child friendly.
Thoresby Hall is a stunning grade 1 listed 19th Century House located in Budby, Nottinghamshire. Thoresby Hall is one of four neighbouring Country Houses and Estates in Dukeries North Nottinghamshire. All four estates were occupied by dukes at one time.
What can I expect to see at the museum?
Within the museum you are able to walk through a timeline of Nottinghamshire’s Cavalry history. As seen through the eyes of the Regiments, you will get to embrace the social history as well as the military. This will take you on a journey to explore the Origins of the British Army right up to the present day. There are also lots of stunning displays showing collections of medals, silverware, radios and so much more that were used during the war years.

What are the Museum opening times?
The museum is open 1st March until 30th November – Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays from 10.30am – 16.30pm
30th November – 1st March is by appointment only.
How much is the entry fee?
Entry into the museum is totally free for everyone. Which is even more reason to visit
Are there disabled toilets and baby changing?
From the court yard you can enter the riding hall where there are toilets. These cater for men, women, disabled and offer baby changing facilities in the ladies and disabled toilet.
Where can I park?
A large gravelled area is provided to park on. Parking chargers are £1 for the first hour or £3 all day. On the day we went we had to walk to the little shop that is situated in the riding hall and purchase a token that we would then use to open the barrier upon leaving.
The Grounds of Thoresby are open all year to enjoy and they really are stunning. There is an outdoor picnic and play area to enjoy. Situated within the court yard you can find also find a few bespoke little shops as well as a cafe to enjoy a nice refreshing drink.
