When I came across the Superdrug Online Doctor I was really keen to give it a try. Getting an appointment for something as simple as a repeat contraception prescription can be quite tricky. Appointments are often limited or they are phone appointments. These don’t always fit in with our busy lives. The Superdrug online doctor service is a free service. It enables real doctors to prescribe contraceptive medication and deliver it straight to your door.
Getting Started

First you need to fill out a short survey. These are just general questions about your health. It is important to inform them of any medication you are currently taking. Be sure to mention if you are currently taking the contraceptive pill and state which type. You can also choose to stay on the same contraceptive pill.
Delivery
You are able to chose from multiple delivery options.
Free Standard Delivery
The first option is free standard delivery. This service takes just a couple of days and is delivered straight to your door. For this service there must be someone at home to accept the delivery.
Collection from a Superdrug Pharmacy
The next option is collection from a Superdrug pharmacy. Your prescription will be available for you to collect from a Superdrug pharmacy of your choice. Be sure to check the opening hours before choosing this service to make sure they are suitable. This service also takes a couple of days.
Express Delivery
Express Delivery is the fastest service. Orders placed before 4pm are despatched and delivered the next day. This service does come at a cost of £3.99. Someone will need to be at home to receive the order.
Create Your Patient Account
Before submitting your order you will need to create your patient account. This provides a few more details to Superdrug. It also allows you to log in and track the progress of your order and reorder your contraception.
Check your order
You will see your order, check that it is all correct and is the contraception you require.
Making Payment
This is the final stage. Once you have checked over the order all you need to do now is make payment. This is just s simple case of popping your card details into the online form and clicking to make the payment.
What happens next?
Once you have filled out the questionnaire, submitted the form and made payment. A doctor will check your order. They will look over your details and ensure that the contraception you are asking for is suitable for you. There is also an option to have a telephone consultation with a doctor if you wish.
Within a few hours you will receive an email from Superdrug saying that they are checking your order to make sure it is correct for you. In this email you will also see your order amount, order ID, patient ID, delivery option and delivery address.
Once your order has been approved by the Superdrug doctors, you will receive an email saying your order is on the way. This email will also include a tracking number so you can track your delivery along with an estimated delivery date.
I found this service to be exceptionally professional. The turn around time from placing my order to delivery was within 3 days. I have never experienced any issues. Being able to use this service has been a real blessing. It has saved me loads of time and is very convenient.
All consultations are confidential. Details will only be shared with your GP if you give permission for them to electronically access your NHS record.
My Only Negative
If I had anything negative to say then my only criticism would be paying for the contraception. If I went to the doctors and got a prescription the contraception would be free. The convenience of the service, speed of delivery and how low hassle it all is far out weighs the cost of the prescription for me.
